Yes, yes I did. I bought myself an e-bike. An e-cargo bike to be more precise. I chose the Rad Power Bikes – Radwagon4.
I purchased the e-bike in December 2021 for myself to commute to my new work location, about 2.6 kms from my home.
I ditched the Nissan Cube, as working from home in 2020-2021 during the Covid19 pandemic really showed how little we needed a second car. The Cube sat in the driveway, rotting away, while I paid for insurance and maintenance costs on it.
So, an e-bike was my car replacement choice. What to get? So many bikes, may as well look at reviews.
This led to realizing I needed a cargo bike type to haul stuff, get my kid to school and black home, commute to work, and something that could handle my weight and height plus extra.
The Radwagon4 hit all the buttons for me. The only part I was feeling a little cautious about were the custom 22″ x 3″ tires built specifically for that bike. The engineering aspect and reviews about the decision that Rad made for that solution weighed over the reality of limited options for replacement tires. I figured, if it caught on, more ebikes might start using that size, thereby expanding my options.
Then came the accessories. Front basket, rear view mirrors, rear kid seat and handlebars, running boards, electronic horn, water bottle holder, and a pair of hard shell motorcycle panniers which I scored at a garage sale and fitted to the bike… and they looked like they belonged there!
It’s been most of a year since I got the bike. I’ve put over 600 kms on the odometer.
I’ll cover my first year with the Radwagon4 in another blog post.
