Interesting story behind this restoration. My friend Dave Carswell had a friend from college days that was also into music and bands. Dave had an Arp Axxe that wound up with a power problem. He gave it to his friend, they lost touch, and that was that. We were talking about the keyboard not long ago, and funny how the world has ears. His friend found him on Facebook, contacted him, and he still had the Arp and was wanting to give it back to Dave. He also had a few Moogs in the basement as well for sale. I picked up the Prodigy for myself. They’d been sitting for quite some time and looked like a couple of sad sacks in the back of my car.
Moog shots before being cleaned up. I literally had to do nothing to it mechanically.
After a lot of windex, toothbrushing, buffing, this was the result. I realized later this was a Generation 1 version, which wasn’t easily modified for MIDI. Darn. Not soon after that, I had my eyes set on a Yamaha CS40M. I sold the Prodigy and found my CS40M.
